Towards the end of the class when the parents have good info, I suggest some questions for the interview process and judge bf-friendliness based on the answers: 1. If I needed a c-sxn and was on abx or had a fever PP, how would that affect bf my baby? 2. How would you manage jaundice in my bf baby? 3. If I had a sore throat, yeast inf., whatever and I needed abx, how would you handle that in my 2 mos old? 4. If I had the flu and called you, what would be your recommendation re bf? 5. If I had mastitis, what would you recommend re bf my baby? You get the idea of the kinds of questions to ask. Slow wt gain is another issue - the answers are really telling.
