It's easy to check if the baby is at risk for hemochromatosis.  Simply do a
blood test called an iron saturation level.  Normal is around 20-40% (at
least in adults).  A level above 90% is very suspicious for hemochromatosis.
 If the baby's iron sat. is normal or low then there should be very little
concern about the baby being at risk for hemochromatosis.
