I have a client with a high level of lipoprotein Lp(a). Approx 102. Her
sister at age 34 had a heart attack and underwent a six-way bypass. This
protein has been suspect for causing this type of heart disease as well as
failed angioplasties and failed bypasses. My client at present is nursing
her 6 month old daughter and would like to continue. Her cardiologist
recommends weaning to begin Niacin therapy that requires 2,000mg per day. He
also would like to do a THallium Stress test . It was recommended to her to
wean at least for one week after until the dye was out of the system. At
this point we have found very little information about breastfeeding thru
heart disease for such a young woman. Thank you for any help anecdotal or
studies. Debby
