If the physician didn't have any information about this drug, why did he
prescribe it? Why not an alternative? Ranitidine is acceptable for
breastfeeding mothers for ulcer therapy. Is the physician playing it
safe? No, if he were playing it safe, he would ask the mother to
continue breastfeeding. There is very little information that I have,
about this drug. But like most, it comes out in the milk in only tiny
amounts. Play it safe! Continue breastfeeding. The risks of formula
are definite, the risks of this drug in tiny amounts in the milk are
not.
