Hi. Since this is my first time addressing the list, I'll start by introducing myself. I am DeDe Vance, RN, BSN, CLC (UCLA graduate of both lactation educator and consultant courses). I function as a lactation consultant and perinatal educator for a major HMO in southern California. I have been reading the items on this list for a few months now and have gained a great deal of worthwhile information!!! I have now come across a case I could really use some input on, especially from those who are more comfortable with the use of herbs and other homeopathic medicines. I have a client with multiple sclerosis. It has been in remission throughout the pregnancy but she is worried about relapse with the lack of sleep she is now experiencing as a new mom. Her mother (also an MS patient) has been using a combination of special vitamins and herbs promoted for MS patients, and feels they have been helpful. My client wants to know if they would be safe to take while nursing. They are as follows: Cal-Meg (calcium + horse tail???) Chelated vitamins in addition to multi-vits, anti-oxidants and extra vit E Prophalvanol (unsure spelling)--grape seed extract??? In addition to safety while nursing, I'd also like to know if this combination of vitamins/herb has been shown to help MS. I'd appreciate any information e-mailed privately and/or to the list. My e-mail address is [log in to unmask] Thank-you ahead of time. DeDe
