Hi Kathy and all, We just had our Halcea mtg (Houston Area Lactation
Consultants and Educators) last week. Topic was tongue tie. We had a panel
including a great pedi dentist, ENT MD, Pedi, speech path, & LC. I think what
I found most helpful were the slides. (could be because I am a visual
learner) Not so much the slides of the infants tongue, but the slides of what
these moms nipples looked like after only 3 to 4 days of nursing!!! Nobody
could come up with a problem caused by clipping the tongue, only great
improvement noted. I have sent several clients to the pedi dentist that does
the procedure in the office. Mom holds child on their lap during the
procedure, and goes to breast immediately afterwards. He brought a video that
was wonderful, of the procedure being done. The ENT seemed more apt to want
to put kiddo under general anesthesia. Let me know if you would like his name
and address!!!! I think the female pedi that came learned alot by attending!!
Good luck, I can't see anyone being able to chew YOU up. Hopefully they will
learn something!! Denise G Hewson RN IBCLC Katy, Tx
