Ann Search the web for national statistics on birth rates. Last year I got world-wide recent data on birth rates from a WHO site in Geneva, but it was related to a study on the incidence of a heredity condition, so it may not be still on their site. I am not sure what year my data was from, but my notes say that the USA had 4,115,300 births (and one IBCLC per 1098 births). At that time (pre the 96 exam) Australia had 259,200 births nationwide and one IBCLC per 240 births. We now have one per 216 births. If we all saw one mother and baby a day, with weekends and recreation leave off, we could cover them all....... Ros Escott Tasmania, Australia
