Instead of saying "Are you planning to bf" why not say "Are you planning to FEED your baby?" This is a quote from one of the presenters at the USWD LLL confernece this year (sorry, I can't remember who--maybe K. Liles or K. Detwyller?) I think it's fantastic. As a Benton County, OR. Healthy Start consultant, I recently had to interject into the long-term nurse visiting curriculum a section on feeding. They had completely forgotten the entire topic for new parents! The steering committee of course said, "Oh, you mean breastfeeding?" (knowing how "fanatical" I am....And, I said, "No, why not say 'Are you planning to Feed your baby?' classes." The lightbulbs all went on. : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) Chris Hafner-Eaton, PhD, MPH, CHES, IBCLC email: [log in to unmask] HSR & Educational Consultant fax: 541 753 7340 Health Improvement Research Services voice: 541 753-7340 **CHANGE THE WORLD, NURTURE A CHILD!** : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : )
