In response to Jeff Watts-Roy's inquiry about nineteenth century hotel or tavern excavations for The 19th Century Planters Hotel in Tallahassee Florida was excavated in 1969-70 by L. Ross Morrell, then State Archaeologist. John Penman and I did an analysis of recovered faunal material which was presented to the 1971 meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology. The Hotel was adjacent to the state capitol and served as residence for legislators during the session. The site was excavated as part of the state capitol expansion.
