Dear friends,
Stephen Bell, Assoc. Professor of Psychology at Berry College, GA, has kindly
mailed me a copy of his study that involved LLL families whose children are
now ages 18 - 25. If you wish a complete copy of the study (draft) e-mail me
privately. It is VERY interesting. . . I particularly found the differences
in moral reasoning very enlightening.

Abstract:

This paper examines the possible long term effects of responsive parenting as
defined by Ainsworth (1971) as sensitive, cooperative, acceptance and
accessible. The investigation analyzed and compared the results from three
tests of adjustment that were given to the adult offspring (ages 17 - 29) of
the responsively parented group and a control group. The three tests of
adjustment were: Quality of Life Questionnaire, Defining Issues Tests (moral
reasoning), and Psychap (happiness scale). It was found that the
experimental group scored significantly higher (t=2.2<.05) on the Quality of
Life Questionnaire, scored higher on the Psychap, and reasoned at a
significantly higher level on the Defining IssuesTest.
