We use an independant mini-nuc, which seems to work. Our way,provided you       
seperate them well, you don't get the cross-over of bees between the            
different entrances. The biggest problem is getting the foundation drawn        
out!! What we do now is to put them into a full sized hive to be drawn and      
filled.
