Well.....

Saw a patient today and RN from nursery corners me to get the "who are you
facts" and starts talking about how there is no such thing as nipple confussion.
I just kinda stood there and listened to her opinions on this matter as I am not
hospital staff there but I was thinking about how many other staff members feel
this way. I would like to get a hold of information that will support the
concept of nipple confussion. Could you site recent refs for me to give to this
RN next time I see her? I wish she could see the cases of nipple confussion I
have seen!

Then.....

She goes on to say that bf babies need water so that they feel full and
comfortable while waiting for the milk to come in. Here is a nother chance to
give out your favorite refs. She also uses nipple shields for inverted moms and
I am one of those people who would never suggests its use unless there was no
other way to keep mom breastfeeding.

This is a RN who has worked nursery for 32 years and feels she has experience to
back these things. While that may be true, sometimes there are better ways.

Anyone know how long cup feeding infants has been practiced in hospitals for
babies who cannot bf well?

Just wondering,

Who has really been slacking off on her BSC course lately. Any motivators?
