Kathy Auerback and LACTNET community,
Your response to the TV coverage of the anniversay of tragedy of
Oklahoma City last Friday the 19th was very like what I felt when
my husband and I visited the site last week. Last Monday, the 15th
there were already many toys, signs and other momentos attached to
the fence which surrounds the site of the former Federal Building.
We spoke with a couple who had been near the site and whose own
buildings had been damaged. This woman was shaking as she
told us about her experiences and how only in the past few months
has she been able to come back to the site. What a draining feeling
to look around at the devastation on all sides of the Fed. Building.

One note of hope we learned from this couple. A nearby Church had
major damage to the interior (pews turned over, windows, fixtures
destroyed) but the alter, with Easter Lilies, was untouched. The
community has certainly worked together to help the healing.

On a happier note: I'm looking forward to visiting another LACTNET
subscriber, Linda Pohl, in Phoenix next week. By mid-June we
will be in Northern California. Are there any of you in the
Livermore
          or Berkeley areas?
