I am another consumer advocate re:breastpumps.  If the retailer will not take
back the ineffective/nipple-damaging breastpump, I encourage moms to write to
the manufacturer.  G--ber has refunded purchase price and postage for several
of my clients.  My hope is that lots of returns will stimulate the
manufacturers to make a more effective product.
