Second Midwest Beekeeping Symposium March 9, 1996 McHenry County College, Crystal Lake, IL (located 50 miles northwest of Chicago and 90 miles southwest of Milwaukee) Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm Keynote presentation: Dr. Keith Delaplane, University of Georgia entomologist and host of the PBS series - Honey Bees and Beekeeping: a year in the life of an apiary - will discuss the Integrated Control of Honey Bee Parasites. Also presenting will be Kim Flottum who will address Honey Bees as America's Number One Pollinator. Kim is the Editor of Bee Culture and President of the Ohio Beekeeping Association. Also among the dozen of sessions will be the topics of bee venom therapy, techinques for winning honey competitions, use of extender patties, managing and constructing observation hives, wintering bees, and a special session for the beginning beekeeper. Commercial displays and the National Honey Queen will be on hand and the day will end with a "cracker barrel" social hour for the presenters and participants to relax over a cup of coffee.
