From Denise in snowy Indiana: the mom of a 2 week old term infant whom = I have been helping to get baby to latch on and stay on has finally = succeeded in getting 10min + 10 min at breast without SNS.(Baby is = fingerfeeding for the times when he won't attach). Parents are worried = but reassured by diaper counts and good suction with attachment and = swallowing, and this was validated further by weight check at Md's office = BUT Here's my vent: Baby's healthcare provider told parents that by = Tuesday they needed to decide whether or not to Bottlefeed because "You = can't let Breastfeeding ruin your lives."Both the parents were a bit = shaken by this info.which they didn't expect from the Md. especially = with the improvements baby has made since birth(had been re-hospitalized = for jaundice/dehydration prior to my initial contact with the family). = How many parents have been told this advice already? Another baby's HCP = told mom of 2 days postpartum that she needn't Bother with pumping when = she asked about returning to work-"it's just not worth it". Yes,there's = alot of education needed in this realm of healthcare and I'm trying my = best but I declare it's a lot worse out there than I previously thought = it was....... If only there was a magic wand to be waved to rid the = world of hazardous advice! By The Way,if anyone has advice as to what = is wrong with my formatting, feel free to drop me a line,I am trying to = fix it but so far,you can see I haven't.
