Hello out there...

I have a mom who called today (has 8 day old baby) and informed me that she
has decided to wean.  She claims that she needs to know how much milk the
baby is getting, and is afraid that she's not producing enough milk.  After
lengthy discussion, I found out that baby had almost regained birthweight at
6 days, is stooling 5+ times a day, etc.,etc....Sounds great to me and I gave
her all of the typical reassurances.

She says that she is the vice principal in a middle school and won't be able
to handle the stress of pumping at work.  She asked about the possibility of
weaning to 2 feedings a day (a.m. and p.m.) at 1 month of age.  I've had a
lot of older babies wean to two feedings, but not a 1 month old.   Her only
alternative would be to completely wean.

What is your experience with feeding a 1 month old just twice a day?  I'd
like to encourage this over a complete weaning.
