Got a call last night about a 29 year old mom who has recently moved into the
area. She is 8 months pregnant, and a few months ago weaned her 4 year old
twins. She is going to a lay midwife for her first prenatal checkup today. Her
question was about a lump that is just under the nipple. She says it is
enlarging as the pregnancy progresses, and is tender. When the twins were
nursing, she says she could sometimes get a yucky cheesey material from the
lumpy area, but now cannot. This mom does not believe in traditional medicine.
She says she will not see a doctor about this. She may consider a naturopathic
healer if her lay midwife says she should. She says she is afraid it could be
cancerous but even if it is she still wants to breastfeed and will do nothing to
interfere with this. The lump, by the way has been there for over a year. Does
anybody have any ideas for her? Refuses MD even though was strongly encouraged
to see someone, Would appreciate any ideas, or what worked for encouraging
further encouraging mom to see seriousness of this problem.......Thanks..
