Hi Diane! I have not one shred of evidence to back this up.... and all my books are now at the IBLCE office instead of at home where my AOL access is.... (hmm, inefficient system, what?) but when I read your post about the two year old clenching something *flashed* in my brain that said, "Worms." Has the kid been checked for worms? If this is a really out-to-lunch idea then I will look like an idiot in front of the entire Lactnet assemblage but... needless to say I would strongly advise checking in a Peds textbook before suggesting such to mom. If it's her first kid she'll be horrified at the suggestion. If she's a "veteran" then she's already dealt with the possibility.... or has gotten, as I did today! - the note home from school about head lice found in your child's classroom, and she'll be able to take the suggestion in stride. I post with some trepidation knowing that I cannot reference this even *one tiny little bit* but when I have a strong gut reaction like that it's usually pretty reliable.
