My biggest concern about the proliferation of pump rental stations is the information available to mothers from the station. In this (rural) area there is not too much competition, but mothers may prefer to rent from the pharmacy when they hear our rates. There have been so many occasions when I have heard the words, "Let me speak to my husband and I'll get back to you." I know what that means and rarely ever hear from any of them again. I also wonder if those mothers just give up on the idea of pumping altogether when they realize what it's going to cost them. I wish I could have competition from the local hospital. If the pump rental could just go on the hospital bill, mothers would be less likely to worry about the added cost. Lesley Robinson, IBCLC, LLL Leader Corning, NY
