I have recently joined PMAIL so i hope i am not repeating previuosly asked questions. I recently checked my hives, after neglegting them a bit during winter, to find three totally destroyed by wax moths. At the end of last summer i treated all my super frames with B401 which is a biological insecticide whose active ingrediants are based on a bacterium (Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner var. aizawa) which has been specially developed for the control of greater wax moth larvae in honeycombs. It is supposed to be active for more than 12 months and has no detrimental effect upon the bee colony. This was effective in the supers treated. I would like to know if i can apply this in the brood as well and if anybody knows of other methods of preventing wax moth investation from occuring. Peter Wium South Africa
