William H. Carter, <North American Indian Trade Silver> (London, Ont., 1971)
lists Charles Arnoldi, Montreal, 1779-1817. He also lists an American
silversmith, Charles Aldridge, 1772. The book is neither well organized nor
indexed, but does illustrate the Charles Arnoldi mark on plate 54 (vol. 1, p.
125). Elsewhere in the book, he gives dates of 1779-1810 for Arnoldi, possibly
a typo, as 1817 is given three times. A John Peter Arnoldi, 1734-1808, and a
Michael Arnoldi, 1763-1807, are also listed for Montreal.
