Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share something: I had a mom return a
pump a couple of days ago. On October 4, her daughter will
be a year old. What makes this exceptional?
Well, this mom is a flight attendant who is separated from
her daughter for 3-4 days at a time! She is continuing to
breastfeed, but says that she can do as well with hand
expression as she can with the pump at this point. Also,
last month she and her husband went to Brussels for 8 days
"sans bebe" :( and she pumped 3 times a day to maintain her
supply!
Who says that breastfeeding "ties you down" or that you
have to wean just because you'll be separated from your
baby!
I really admire this mothers dedication to making sure
that her baby was able to continue breastfeeding, even
though it would have obviously been easier for her to just
wean as soon as she went back to work.
                                      Best wishes,
                                      Debby Boehle, IBCLC
