Sleeping is such a touch issue in this country.... My recollection is that there is a sleep indusing agent in formula...this is there to encourage babies to sleep which is what parents want. Parents of babies on formula are not telapathically linked to their infants and therefore the infant must cry longer in order to wake them. undoubtedly there are instances where the child gives up before the parent awakens. Parents of breastfed infants whose sleepcycles are syncronized would be in light sleep with their child and be aware of a lesser noise then their formua friend. People sleep through the night or night from many different ediologies. I think as was said the issue to attend to is a) understanding what is happening with the child and b) more importantly helping families find a way to work things out for themselves. patricia
