I have been impressed with the dedication and quality of comments of those of you who are physicians and members of this marvelous LACTNET group. I am pleased that we have heard from a family practice physician who is a father...as well as numerous physician-mothers, such as yourself. You all have enormous opportunities for influence with your patients and your physician colleagues! After 36 years in nursing my observation has been that "most" health care providers (all areas) are dedicated to health promotion (including breastfeeding). Those that aren't and are vocal about their views stand out and make the rest of us look equally bad. That is not pleasant or fair. Keep up the good work. I would be interested in hearing more about your "Mother's Support Group." My graduate research focused on maternal employment. I'm always interested in how women integrate their multiple roles.
