This is a new(ish) book which I have just come across: _Fixtures and Fittings in Dated Houses 1567-1763_, drawings by Linda Hall, text by NW Alcock and Linda Hall, *Practical Handbook in Archaeology No 11* Council for British Archaeology, Bowes Morrell House, 111 Walmgate, York, YO1 2UA, 1994. 75pp The book covers wooden fittings such as balusters, panelling and mullions, and iron fittings such as latches, bolts and hinges. Most examples are drawn, making it easy to identify comparative features. The 400 buildings are limited to England and Wales, and while having a wide spread, there are large gaps. -- Pat Reynolds Keeper of Social History, Buckinghamshire County Museum/Freelance Curator 16 Gibsons Green Heelands Milton Keynes MK13 7NH - UK [log in to unmask]
