Hola my beloved Lactnetter friends: I will not be on line at home in Mexico until around Aug. 10-12th, but couldn't resist sending you all a quick hello from Jay Simpson's home here in Sacramento, Calif. where I am visiting and learning more about our wonderful profession. And yes, I did survive the ILCA Conference and the overwhelming power of almost 1000 LCs in one place. What impressed me most was the intense sharing of information and support that literally seemed to permeate the atmosphere. Needless to say, I am lugging almost $800 U.S. of acquired materials (slides, videos and texts, etc.) back with me to Mexico...but it was a necessary expense which will be producing immeasurable dividends in my little corner of the world in the BF promotion plans that are cooking up in my head. Along with visiting my family and the ILCA conference (AND the IBLCE exam which is a mere week away...gulp)...I have managed to visit the largest WIC (Women-infants-children) clinic in L.A....a hospital doing Kangaroo Care in Oakland, Calif...and tomorrow another WIC clinic here in Sacramento. Boy, is this a wonderful trip! Talk to you all more when I return home to Merida in Aug. If anyone wants to send me a message or two, you can send it to Lactnet today or tomorrow and I'll actually be able to read it since I'll be staying in this area until Tues. evening. Hasta luego, Roberta , The Mexican Milk Maid...on vacation in the U.S. of A.
