I managed them closely this spring and neither swarmed. They now have 4 supers each of capped honey and one partial (on top of two brood chambers). The honey flow is over in Maryland. I usually procrastinate and wait til Aug. to extract. I would like to do it earlier this year. Should I make any attempt to depopulate the bees when I remove the supers or just let them crowd in for a few days while I extract and get the supers back on? Will the bees protect all the empty supers from wax moth until fall or should they be removed and wrapped with moth balls? David Winkler
