No, I haven't read that article.  The nurses in my nursery are given the
decision to administer the acetominophen.  At first I wrote it as a
scheduled drug, but they actually complained about giving babies a drug that
they didn't seem to need!  So, I changed it to be given as needed.  The
nurses prefer that.  Some babies need the medicine, and some don't seem to
need it.  I agree with you, that maybe the pain cycle never gets a chance to
establish itself, and that's why they seem to do better.
