HI:

Lit searches I've done on this topic have not discriminated breast vs. other
fed children. Even if stats show a lower incidence of abuse among breastfed
children, it still only means (sadly) a lower, not no, incidence. Could this
mother have been suffering from depression. The breastfed infant so often is
more alert and requests mother's company more than other-fed children, so
mother's expectations may not be congruent with reality. Also, what is
mother's history, does she feel alone/isolated -- not unusual in our culture,
does she have partner/family support or is she on her own? So many
contributing factors... Hope this mother and baby get the help they need.
