We welcome proposals on these and related topics: * the role of historical research and public historians in federal recognition and land claims cases * NAGPRA and the repatriation of sacred objects * the preservation of sacred and historic native sites * the representation of native history in museums, films, CD-ROMs and other public media * history education in native communities * community-based public history programs * building a historical context for the interpretation of native art * public history and native history in either North American or global contexts * ethics and the public history of native communities * recent trends in American Indian history of particular interest to public historians Proposal deadline: May 15, 1995.
