Thanks for your two cents, Harry and Sarah. I vote that it be considered= at least 4=A2 worth! Your point is well taken. The point I was trying= to make is that ultrasound could be considered an appropriate alternative= to mammogram when breastfeeding is ongoing. You are right, of course,= re: going beyond just that if a mass is suspected. This point was made= time and again at our breastfeeding and breast cancer program. The other= point made was that whenEVER a mother feels a lump, she should NOT IGNORE= IT.=20 A good case could be made for EVERY LC teaching breast self-exam= as a regular part of visits with mothers. It is not all that differnet= from breast massage, used for other reasons, and encouraging every mother= to do it regularly might help more spot very small changes before anyone= else might. After all, how many busy mothers of (especially small) children= see the MD for themselves as often as they do for their children? Thanks again for your points--all well taken. Keep adding them!!= kga %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% %% Kathleen G.
