REGARDING GIS and ARCHAEOLOGY:
SUNY/Buffalo is home to a branch of the NCGIA (National Center
for Geographic Information Analysis) which has a professor
of anthropology (an archaeologist!) as a member.
Addtionally, SUNY/Buffalo did work with ARC/Info at
Fort Niagara.

Finally, there is a GIS-L. That might be where all the GIS
archaeologists spend their time.
