I would like to investigate the amino acid and carbohydrate composition of wasp honeys (yes, wasps). Volumes are small, but I have access to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipment. My initial forays into the literature on Apis honey analysis have not led to work using HPLC that I might follow as a guide. Can anyone on Bee-L direct me to useful literature or, better, to an active researcher. Or, if you are experienced in HPLC, can you offer guidance on such arcana as dilution, derivitization, etc. At the same time, do you have access to wasp honeys - of any taxon of social Vespidae - that you could send to me for inclusion in the survey? I would be most appreciative and would gladly acknowledge the contribution. I can be reached directly at C4926@UMSLVMA, by FAX at 314-553-6233, or by snail mail at Department of Biology, University of Missouri - St. Louis, St. Louis, MO 63121. Many, many thanks. Jim Hunt
