Very sparse amount of info in the CBI files!  Was surprised that there was so little about cardiac problems in postpartum mothers.  Will dig further.

Found comments Br J Ob Gyn 1989, Robson & Dunlop. "Thus lactation would appear to impose a minimal additional burden on the puerperal heart and there seems to be no reason why women with compromised cardiovascular function or hypertension who wish to breast-feed should be discouraged from doing so."  all the ref to this were pretty old :-(  

However, is this mom's situation the usual blame it all on lactation?  Formula feeding requires no extra work on the mother's part (just shopping, expense, washing bottles, etc.)  Pat in SNJ
