From http://www.koiandponds.com/salt_tables.htm, the recommended "indefinite" treatment salt concentration is 0.2%-0.4%--about 1.6 to 3.2 pounds of salt per 100 gallons of water. This is not far from the 0.5% often recommended in the bee literature as being attractive to honey bees. As I posted recently, a tsp of salt weighs 5.69 g; a gallon of water 3785 g, so a 0.5% solution would be 3.3 tsp/gal. A 0.3% solution, midway in the koi range, would be 2 tsp/gal -- Randy Oliver Grass Valley, CA www.ScientificBeekeeping.com *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
