A number of beekeepers report that colonies do better on partially inverted
sugar blends--sucrose, glucose, and fructose, which mimic honey.

Bee supply houses thus supply sucrose/HFCS blends, which many of us find
that our bees do quite well on.  But I have not yet run cage trials to
compare.
