> >A simple matter of an overnight mutation

A single mutation may work well to confer resistance to a synthetic
miticide that affects a single neurotransmission pathway. But the mode of
action of formic acid appears to be more complex, and would likely require
selection for multiple mutations. Could certainly happen, but unlikely
overnight.

And even then, a mite with the right combination of mutations would then
need to propagate her genetics throughout the apiary. Again, has happened
again and again, but not overnight.
