Cross posting this here... Had an idea for PP based on a service I used to provide for WIC clients. Wanted to offer IBCLC-led pump distribution and education for women in my area who are getting ACA pumps through a regional DME. The plan is to teach moms how to use them, make sure mom is correctly sized, review storage and collection, and provide local BF resources, without 'selling' them services (I am on the local resource list along with other IBCLC's in the area). I talked with a local DME owner that I know, making it clear that I'm not there to sell or push pumps, and they seem interested and willing to pay a fee for the service to me if I provide the education to clients receiving pumps. We're just throwing ideas around at this point, but my goal is to travel throughout the county (which has one medium-sized 'twin city' area, and the rest very rural) and provide these services for moms so that they get a good start with their pumps and have basic questions answered about use/storage and direction to resources at the start of any problems. I have a phone meeting planned next week to discuss details and talk feasibility, so I'm trying to come up with a service model for them which would also make it clear that I'm not an agent of the pharmacy, that I'm not selling anything, and that I am there to get them started off and make sure they know what they're doing with the equipment. Thoughts on setup and/or billing? Anyone with personal experience contracting services to others like this? Any ethical concerns I need to be aware/careful of? -Brandy J.
