Randy,

It was one of the take home points you discussed in your presentations at the University of Illinois Genome & Bee Research lab and the Polinatarium in April of 2014.  Recruitment must exceed the attrition rate.  

Nutrition being another one of the key factors to enable the bees to withstand (or further withstand)  of the stress factors they face so the recruitment rate can exceed the attrition rate.

Not to mention re-queening should reduce the urge to swarm as new queens (at least ones which are not AHB) are less apt to swarm in the first year.

Along with the other presentations of the day, it was a day well spent!!!
