I have always heard honey bees only work one flower species on a given trip. Today I watched a bee switch back and forth between white Dutch clover and birds foot trefoil a couple of times. This was not some young bee out on its first learners solo flight. It had fairly tattered wings. It was a cold day with a high of only about 65 deg so maybe nothing was yielding much nectar and that influenced behavior.
