I use them  and yes all the above are problems,  as well as pollen has to be
collected quickly.
I will tell you bees get used to them and quit getting stuck.

And I would add I do better with these than the Sundance traps.  Bees never
seem to adjust.

I have built a cpl other  but not used them yet as we are in a shortage of
pollen....

The sundance is great because you can leave the pollen in till your ready.
Inside the hive it stays warm and dry..

They are not the greatest that's for sure,  but the only reasonable option I
have found so far.
