Hi all, I have a friend in Arlington, TX (Dallas/Fort Worth area) who would like some lactation help. Here is what I know of her hx: Gave birth to conjoined twins mid-October, I believe 6 wks prematurely. One twin did not survive. The one who did survive received his brother's liver (that is where they were conjoined), so has 2 livers. He loves to breast feed (smart boy!) and does not like to drink from the bottle. The issue is that he is not gaining much weight (don't know the birth wt, but he is not even 9lbs yet). The baby is followed by GI and the team (which does NOT include an IBCLC!) is recommending formula supplementation to help him catch up. Baby is not drinking from the bottle. Mom tried her own version of SNS, but baby did not like that either. The team encouraged her to do ONLY bottle feeding and "figure out how to make it work." But baby does better at the breast. Does anyone know of an IBCLC who would be willing to work with this mom and baby? He just had a follow up appointment today with his surgeon in Philadelphia (where he was born), who recommended placing an NG tube. Thanks, Esther Reich, RN, BSN, CLC Philadelphia, PA, USA *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
