When using Hopguard
some
 hives totally rip the strip

to shreds in days and have it out in front of the hive, it looks like a
cattail plant (Typha latifolia) exploded. Other hives totally ignore the
cardboard strip, may chew the edges a bit but if I don

t pull it out it will be there
forever
.
To me this is hygienic behavior also, not allowing foreign objects in the
hive.
I always make note of the shredders.
Hopguard is very labor intensive and not my favorite product but since
supers can be on and temperature doesn't effect application I use it on
some hives.
