As regards labelling artificial baby milk products, if the companies were honest, they should label the no-lactose product as "lactose deficient" - yes, deficient, as lactose fills an important role in the baby's system as a major ingredient of human milk. For instance, it promotes iron absorption (which is better from human milk than from iron-fortified artificial milks or iron-fortified baby cereal, despite popular opinion). Calling a product "lactose-free" puts a misleadingly positive spin on it. Ladies, I cannot believe the cleverness of the formula companies (Abbott) in their renaming of the various products. They have removed the name of "Newborn Formula" and such, and are now calling it a "Supplement", and the formula that is lactose free is called "for fussiness and gas or lactose sensitivity". We know that babies aren't usually sensitive to lactose-they are sensitive to the milk protein. And it goes on and on with names that reach out to the mother who is exhausted and having trouble with breastfeeding, and sounds SO friendly and harmless and like the answer to all her problems! So aggravating.
