I was implying the opposite: Lack of diversity can be a sign of domestication, or the reduction of population below a critical mass. Lack of variability translates to the lack of ability to adapt to changing circumstances.  But the honey bee has remarkable diversity and variability, even in small populations, a sign that the forces of evolution are still at work.
