Jorg asked: "Chris, what are your thoughts on using a TBH with frames? Picture a single deep 36 frame box, each frame glued to a bar." That would be very like Robin Dartington's long deep hive. Google 'Dartington Hive' to see it. His design uses standard top bars and so can be supered, using half sized and therefore lighter supers, but I suppose extra wide top bars could be substituted so that there is less than a bee-space between them (propolis is one of the harvests of the TBH). If you're using frames, though, you'll also be subjecting your bees unnecessarily to all the stresses of foundation: unnaturally uniform cell size, chemicals in the wax, unnatural comb shape, difficulty in drawing comb etc. Chris *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
