The first thing that comes to mind is like a "pinched nerve." Is it possible she strained her back, torso in some way? For me it would be gardening, weeding, pruning trees etc. Housecleaning? Even bending over to pick up the baby, does she remember a twinge in her back or something like that? Apparently 4th through 6th intercostal nerves innervate the breast. Might be helped by gentle stretching, yoga, chiropractic, anti-inflammatory NSAIDS like ibuprofen (L1).
