Robbing bees is always a problem when flows slow or stop. After a rain is always a problem. Obviously the supers were too close but robbing can happen at even greater distance. Once we had bees from a couple hundred hives robbing in the honey house. a side door was left open while the guys went to lunch. The only solution was wait till sunset and open the doors. I even turned the bug zappers off. Of course the problem was blamed on me for not moving the hives to a holding yard. My wife asked what I was going to do so I fired the person which left the door open. He laughed as I fire Aaron a couple times a week. Gets his attention but he knows after 20 years his job is secure. I have worked long days in bee yards with robbing bees but does not make for pleasant beekeeping. I am glad for me those days are over. In larger operations work goes everyday except in downpours. Heat and humidity is a bigger concern than angry bees in commercial beekeeping Back breaking work plus boring work is a bigger problem than angry bees. bob *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
