We have also recently had this discussion with the OB group. A couple of our LCs had spoken to moms about some of the milk supply concerns when receiving Depo early and the OBs were not at all happy with us. We tried to discuss ACOG guidelines about waiting for 6 weeks for injectable birth control but we are now being told we can't talk about this with moms. They also feel that the risk of unplanned pregnancy in these moms is too high of a risk. I've been unable to find good evidence that it can cause a drop in supply and have found info about oversupply instead. But, many of us have worked with moms who had a sudden drop in supply and the only change seemed to be the Depo shot.

Good Luck
